Peter Cornwell caught this 10lb smoothound last night  at Langney Point. The fish was returned alive - well done Peter :)

!!NEW!! Shore Catch Report - Pevensey/Eastbourne - 24th June 2016

The main story for this week has ben the arrival of numbers of smoothound. There have been some good sized ones from Langney Point, up to 7lb, but also a number of smaller smoothounds through Normans Bay and Cooden (3-4lb).

There have also been a number of small bass, and the odd sizeable one.

Best bet for this weekend  will be to fish for smoothounds from Langney Point and Normans Bay over high water (day or night) with peeler or hermit crab. Fish the flood tide at Pevensey Bay with worm for bass or dover sole. Best at night for the sole. Good Luck !!

!NEW!! Shore Catch Report - Pevensey/Eastbourne - 10th June 2016

It's been a really good week for quality fish caught from the shore locally.

Last weekend saw some quality bass landed, with a magnificent fish of 11lb for Andy Reeves being the best of them.

There are still some nice plaice about and some dover sole coming in along the coast.

Also there have been quite a few smoothounds caught, the biggest falling to Paul Puplett, estimated at 8lb.

Best bets for the weekend and next week -

- Bass with worm at low tide, through Pevensey Bay and Normans Bay, or at Holywell with crab or squid baits.

- Smoothound from Langney Point on crab or ragworm baits.

- Alternatively, fish over high tide at Cooden with crab or ragworm baits.

- Night fishing for sole with lugworm bait from Langney Point or White Horses.

Tight Lines !

Smoothound for Paul - Normans Bay - 8th June 2016

Paul Puplett caught this smoothound, earlier this week at Normans Bay. The fish was estimated about 8lb before being released alive.

There have been a number of reports of smoothounds being caught, but this is the biggest one we have seen so far.

Well done Paul ><))))))˚>

Shore Catch Report - Pevensey/Eastbourne - 27th May 2016

Last weekend was quite slow, but there were still a few good plaice caught around the Langney Point area. However, this week has seen some good fish landed once again.

On Tues, during a competition, no fewer than 4 sizeable bass were caught, the biggest around the 3lb mark (all were returned alive). There  were also plenty of small bass, which is good to see.

This week has also seen some good mixed catches at White Horses, during the day, with sole, plaice and flounder being the main species.

Best bet for the coming week - Langney Point for sole, plaice and smoothound, or Norman's Bay/Cooden for bass and smoothound. Also, if the wind is off the sea, then it's worth getting down to Pevensey Bay at low tide and fishing the surf for bass with worm bait. GOOD LUCK!!

Pictured below are some of the bass caught in the bay this week (entered into the Anglers Den Bass Catch and Release Competition, so these fish were photographed, before being returned alive), and Rob Lock is pictured with his 52cm bass.

!!NEW!! Shore Catch Report - Pevensey/Eastbourne - 20th May 2016

The signs are looking very positive as we head from spring into summer. The early part of this week saw catches including sole, flounder, dab, smoothound (to 4lb), plaice and large pout, in and around the Langney Point area.

Later this week, we have seen some good sized dover sole (to 1lb 6oz), flounder, dab, plaice, and lots of small bass, from the White Horses/Pevensey Bay areas.

Best bet for the weekend and coming week - potential for plenty of good flatfish (all types!!), with the possibility of smoothound and dogfish.
