Directions

Follow Eastbourne Road heading west out of Pevensey Bay and follow the signs to Eastbourne Seafront. Proceed west along Eastbourne Seafront (Royal Parade) to the most western point (approx 3.5 miles). Holywell lies between the western end of the lower promenade and the chalk pinnacle below St Bedes Prep School, where Dukes Drive makes a very sharp bend to climb up towards Beachy Head. Parking is available  along the seafront, and zigzag paths lead down to the beach at Holywell (BN20 7XB).

Recreational Bass Fishing Restrictions - Updated October 2023

1st Feb - 31st March - recreational sea angling for seabass is permitted on a catch and release basis only.

1st April - 31st January - recreational sea anglers are permitted to retain up to two bass per angler per day (over the minimum conservation reference size of 42cm).

UPDATE 2021

CONGER EELS may also now be caught at this location, from Spring through to Autumn. Best baits for conger are large fish or squid baits, fished on a large hooked (size 5/0+) Pulley Pennel rig, best after dark.
