Thanks Pete Cornwell pictured with two smoothhounds caught from a local Sussex beach at the weekend, one 10lb 3oz and the other 12lb.
Pete fished with fishing pal Sala in a session that also included a few small bass and dogfish.

In the past week there have been some nice smoothhound caught from local beaches. Squid and regworm bait has produced some nice catches.
Martin Upton is pictured with a 10lb, 106cm smoothhound from Langney Point, Eastbourne. Our very own Glyn Morgan caught 4 smoothhound the same night at Normans Bay.
There are still quite a few dogfish about.
The May rot (a spring type of algae bloom) has started on the flood tide, but it's much clearer at the top of the tide and on the abb. Tides are starting to shorten but if the calm conditions come back we would still expect to see some smoothhound caught and maybe the start of some dover sole.
