March 2026
Shore fishing locally during the bigger tides last week was good with some dabs still around and a few plaice starting to appear. At night there have been lots of dogfish, and some conger eels, as well as the occasional thornback ray. Les Glazzard is pictured with a 5lb conger during an Anderida Beach Fishing Club match during the week. He then caught another 9lb conger the following evening, both in Pevensey Bay.
As the tides have dropped to neap tides, the fishing has slowed down a little but this will hopefully improve over the next week, with the arrival of spring tides. If we have some calm days and the sea clears out, this should then produce plaice during the day, at Langney Point, on Eastbourne Seafront and Pevensey Bay.
At night on the making tides if it’s not too rough, hopefully some more thornbacks will show, along with plenty of dogfish and a few whiting.
It's a bit too early for the bass yet, but watch this space!
