We have had several reports now from customers of Eastbourne catches of thornback rays, mainly at night but one customer also caught three yesterday during the day - a great sign.
Main baits for ray fishing are mackerel, squid and bluey, which can be fished either on their own or as a cocktail.
James Jenner is pictured with an Eastbourne thornback caught this week and reports:
'Hi Team. 4lb 13oz Thornie from Eastbourne beach, on Mackerel and Squid wrap, caught on one of your shop-tied pulley/dongle rigs.
Maggie had Whiting, Rockling and Doggies on 2hk flappers and small nuggets of mack & squid strip.
Hopefully the first of many Rays, bring on the Small-Eyed!
