A MIXTURE OF SUMMER AND WINTER SPECIES FROM LOCAL BEACHES
Local beach fishing recently has been quite good
There have been a few nice DOVER SOLE being caught. Fred Puttick caught a 1lb 6oz sole 2 weeks ago during the day and last Sunday in the Dennis Puttick Memorial Beach Fishing Competition, Ross Parsons caught a lovely 1lb 10½oz sole, again in daytime.
There are still some CODLINGS being caught, although mainly small between 1-2lb, as well as the occasional THORNBACK RAYS, mainly at night.
Langney Point is still seeing a few daytime PLAICE and throughout the area some nice BASS are beginning to show. Monday night saw a 7lb bass at Langney Point as well as a 10½lb bass in Pevensey Bay.
The intermittent rough weather has pretty much put paid to the MACKEREL season as we need a reasonably long spell of calm for them to come inshore. DOGFISH and WHITING are starting to be caught as we get a mixture of the summer species and winter species at this time of year.
