Thanks Alex Smart for pictures and report from his first pike fising session of the season:

'What a way to open up the pike season...Had a day off work today and need to dust of the pike rods for the up coming months. And boy did I.

Chucked a whole mackerel on and tossed it to where I can see some fry darting around then just sat on it and waited. Down the float goes then pops up then on the move so struck into it and thought this is a good fish. 20lb 11oz.

Happy with that to open this year account. Bring on more...well after all this rain and rivers clear up.'
