December has seen some good mixed bag catch reports from Eastbourne and Pevensey beaches.
Adam Faiers fished on 29th December from a lovcal beach and reported:
'Fished 2 hours yesterday with Anglers Den lug , picked up 5 dabs inc a nice size one in the photo and 3 plaice , 1 flounder and 3 whiting' Thanks Adam!
Barry Roberts went Christmas Eve fishing and sent this picture of a thornback ray caught from a local beach with the message
'Merry Christmas guys, just got my present a few hours early, not sure of the weight but he was 57cms across the wings so it's a new pb for me'
Well done Barry - thanks for letting us know!

Ricky Diamond fishing on 23rd Dec from a local beach and told us:
'had a lovely thorny of 8lb13oz it took off like a train, lucky I had my drag set to go. It fell to a big mackerel fillet fished on a up and over rig'.
Thanks Ricky!

Harvey Shelley sent this picture from a session on 22nd Dec
'Just a few of the biggest from fishing high tide this morning at Langney point. Nice whiting of 37cm, pout and a doggie'. Thanks Harvey :)

The EASTBOURNE NOMADS Beach Fishing Club Christmas Open Comp took place on 14th December on Eastbourne (Langney Point and Splash Point) beaches and produced some excellent mixed bags with some very good specimens.
Tony Kirrage of Tonys Tackle had the best fish of the day with a magnificent 84cm bass (estimated approx 10lb 7oz- pictured). There were also catches of dogfish, dover sole, flounder, dabs, whiting and pout, as well as 3 strap conger eels! Ralph Crosby from Hasting also had a sizeable thornback ray.

Also pictured below is the lovely 1lb8oz dover sole caught by James Hughes who was fishing in Pevensey Bay on 17th Dec with his pair of Blackrock SS10 Competition Surf rods (pictured). As well as the sole, James also caught flounder, bass and whiting.

In the OVER 50s BEACH FISHING COMP also held on 17th December at White Horses, Pevensey Bay, the main species caught were small dabs and bass, as well as whiting and pout.

Strong winds and rough seas early December brought dogfish back which were being caught in numbers from local beaches, with 20 dogfish being caught by anglers in the Anderida Beach Fishing Competition on 11th Dec. Also some larger pout (12oz+) were also showing as well as rockling. Larger whiting (over 1lb) were also being caught from local beaches.

Flatfish are being caught mainly during the day with reports of dabs from Langney Point and also flounder through Pevensey and Normans Bay.

Harvey Shelley sent the picture below from a session 8th Dec fishing over high tide.

'A very flat evening, and minimal wind. I had pout, dogfish and whiting, biggest of 33cm. All on Anglers Den supplied bait! Good quality as per usual' See picture below - Thanks Harvey!
