Great Variety of Late Summer Species - 8th Sept 2019

There are bass, plaice, dover sole, eel, flounder, gurnard, thornback ray and smoothound being caught from local Eastbourne and Pevensey beaches! On Friday when it was still calm the mackerel reappeared at Langney Point although dispersed as the wind got stronger.

Ollie Franks went fishing this evening on an Eastbourne beach using sandeel bait and targetting thornback rays - and look what he caught!!

That's the way to do it - Well Done Ollie!!

Harvey Shelley said this morning:

'Just got home after fishing the tide in this morning from 4am.
Couple of thornbacks and another red gurnard' Thanks again Harvey!!

Mark Austen sent these pictures after a visit this week to the shop saying:

'Just thought I’d share with you my eldest daughters catch today from the lug we had off you earlier after cycling down the beach this afternoon. Cheers guys.' Thanks Mark - lovely pictures of a very pleased looking little angler!

Tristan Parsons caught this early morning bass from a local beach on the lure at the end of August.

Last Saturday night the Saxons Sea Fishing Club held a 'Sole Only' match along Eastbourne seafront with plenty caught. Paul Parsons won with 3 sole including one at 41cm. He also caught a sizeable thornback ray. Peter Fountain was second with 4 sole and Kevin Merner (pictured) caught the biggest sole of 2lb. Other fish caught included a sizeable codling for Mike Perfect.

Sheldon Pinyard sent this picture of a lovely bass, approx 11lb caught with the help of daughter Shanyce (her first fish!) near the waterworks at Langney Point, Eastbourne recently.

'Just a few pics of lasts nights catch!
I had a red gurnard which is different and a smoothound pup and Lewis had two schooly bass to 37cm. No monsters but still great variety from the local beach ?'
