We have had so many fantastic FAMILY MACKEREL FISHING photos sent over the past week, with great fishing, great weather and August bank/school holiday meaning very busy local beaches!!
Mackerel fishing brings great results, and so is a great way to get children trying out sea angling.
Jason Scott sent this picture of Olivia Scott aged 8 with her first fish a mackerel caught from a local beach - Well done Olivia!! Jason is also pictured with a string of mackerel. Anglers were reporting large shoals, very close to the shoreline and excited scenes on busy bank holiday beaches!!
Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, several other members of Jason's family also had a go!
Pictured below is 13 year old Izzy Brown catching 20 mackerel on her brand new Shakespeare Agility beach set bought at Anglers Den. Well done Izzy!!
Regular anglers were taking the opportunity to fill up the freezer with mackerel for bait. Some were making a plea for people to only catch what they were intending to take home - eat, freeze or give away. Busy beaches were prompting people to ask that others always bring their rubbish home. Remember - leave only footprints.
Other anglers were sending pictures of mackerel being smoked, grilled, barbequed, and made into pate!!
