We have reports at the moment of dover sole being caught from local beaches at night (and bass during the day), so it's well worth targetting these species.
Lewis Wilson is pictured with a 37cm dover sole caught on Saturday night off an Eastbourne beach while fishing with his mate Harvey Shelley, who both called into the shop for bait, and for a chat about targetting sole..
After missing a few bites using larger hooks, Lewis changed to lug tipped with squid bait on a 3 hook flapper rig with size 4 hooks and first bite after scaling down resulted in a double shot on the same rig! A small bass of 36cm and a beaut of a sole (pictured) measuring close to 37cm! A couple of small eels were also caught on the same rig and bait.
