After a slow start lately, there have lots of reports over the past week of mackerel showing off Pevensey, Langney and Eastbourne beaches!!
Adam Faiers sent these pics of mackerel caught in Pevensey Bay last weekend. We have had lots of reports of the sea being alive with mackerel and of catches into the dozens!!
Once mackerel arrive for the summer they move in vast shoals, hunting small fish or sandeels. A large shoal of mackerel can force smaller fish such as sandeel, to the surface of the sea making it look as if sections of the sea are boiling - it's quite a sight, and makes the fishing very exciting, especially for children - small and big, who need to see results!!
Paul King is pictured below left with a 1lb 3¾oz mackerel which is a new Anderida club record. Paul caught 35 mackerel last night while bream fishing with bait at Langney. The sea was alive with them and lots were being caught!!
Harvey Plumstead is pictured below right with mackerel caught in Pevensey Bay this week where loads could be seen just 20-30 yards out.  Well done Harvey!! Also lots of mackerel reported along the local coastline through to from Eastbourne/Langney Point, through Pevensey Bay to Cooden, Bexhill and Hastings.
Happy Days - keep your catch reports coming!
Josh Kingaby sent the picture below left of his bucket of mackerel caught on a single lure at White Horses near Sovereign Harbour this week.
Meanwhile pictured below right is Riley Marshall from Coast Road Pevensey Bay who has been catching mackerel off the beach this week whilst out walking his dog.
Great mackerel fishing - Thanks for sending!
