Macmillan Cancer Support - Fundraising 2017

Macmillan Cancer Support - Fundraising 2017

                 Total Raised  £3,637.28!!

During 2017, the team at, and friends of Anglers Den, have been raising money for  Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan provides advice and support to anyone effected by a cancer diagnosis, with the aim that no-one facing cancer should walk alone.

There have been a number of Fundraising Activities during 2017. From the 'Weight Loss' project with built-in forfeits (all for fun, and a joint venture with our neighbours from Over The Moon Party Shop), to the Beach Casting Tuition with Glyn - all beachcasting lessons provided by Glyn this year,  up until 31st May 2017, are being paid for by customers donating  directly to Macmillan.

There  was also a Beach Fishing Competition  in Pevensey Bay on Sunday 28th May,  and a Raffle  drawn on Saturday 3rd June, with loads of fantastic sponsored prizes (our suppliers have been very generous), and  also the sale of books, tackle and cakes in the shop.

Glyn and Sue also completed the London to Brighton Ultra Challenge walking from Richmond in West London to Brighton (100k) over Whitsun Bank Holiday Weekend - 27th/28th May.  You can support our fundraising efforts either by direct sponsorship, or just by supporting any of the fundraising activities listed above - it all goes directly to Macmillan and all proceeds will be paid into our Virgin Money Giving Fundraising Account for Macmillan.

Then from 24th June until 1st July, a Friend of Anglers Den, David Tame will took part in a 7 Day/24 Hour Beach Fishing Marathon in Pevensey Bay. People sponsored David to catch as many species of fish as possible during his week of non-stop beach fishing!

Regular updates were posted about events and monies raised on our Facebook Page.

UPDATE 1st July - David Tame completed his 7 day/24 hour Beach Fishing Marathon today and has raised over £600 (some still to be collected), which is fantastic!
Many thanks to all those who sponsored David, some even pledged extra money if he caught 10 or more different species of fish, which he did! Other people were so impressed, they just donated! Well Done David.

We will be collecting money for Macmillan both by encouraging people (esp those eligible to claim Gift Aid) to make their donations directly via our Virgin Money Giving Fundraising Page.

We also have a Macmillan Cancer Support Collection box  in the shop. When the pot is emptied, we will always ask one of our customers to help with the 'count-up' and this money will also be paid into this fundraising account.
